LWVNC Climate Change Action Policy

The League of Women Voters of Napa (LWVNC) supports actions to mitigate and adapt to climate change in order to protect our county and state from the negative physical, economic, and public health effects. Our local league engages at a local and regional level. Our actions are to:

​

  • Promote energy conservation and efficiency in transportation, buildings, and infrastructure, including energy efficiency standards and land use policies that reduce vehicle miles travelled.

​​

  • Promote carbon pricing by market mechanisms such as  cap and trade systems and carbon taxes.

​​

  • Promote a clean, low-carbon energy economy that is sustainable, including all forms of renewable energy and transportation infrastructure.

​

  • Promote policies that mitigate impacts of climate change by adaptation in urban, rural, agricultural, and natural settings.

The Story of Plastic

As part of the LWV Napa's commitment to preserving natural resources and the environment we encourage you to watch this important film.  We were able to participate in a panel discussion with Napa Climate Now and share that video here.  THE STORY OF PLASTIC features interviews with experts and activists on the front lines of the fight, revealing the disastrous consequences of the flood of plastic smothering ecosystems and poisoning communities around the world, and the global movement that is rising up in response. With engaging original animation, archival industry footage beginning in the 1930s, and first-person accounts of the unfolding emergency, the film distills a complex problem that is increasingly affecting the planet’s and its residents’ well-being.
