Dear Members and Friends of the League,
As the Co-Presidents of the governing board of the League of Women Voters of Napa County, we are committed to representing our members and providing the support needed to build trust during these unprecedented times.
Presently, the League of Women Voters’ core values on “Empowering Voters and Defending Democracy” is facing tough challenges. As Co-Presidents, it is our responsibility to ensure our membership is kept well informed and we communicate to our members our collective decisions and LWV’s stance on Prop 50.
LWV California does not support or oppose the governor’s mid-cycle redistricting initiative. Please see the League’s full statement below.
We look forward to instilling a sense of confidence in these uncertain times as we continue to be involved in the political process but remain non-partisan: “We are a scrappy, grassroots, fire fueled movement that will not allow democracy to be stolen” (LWVC). Our Voter Service Committee and interested volunteers will be extremely busy providing election education for the November 4th, election.
Stay tuned and informed,
Bernadette (Bernie) Brooks
Yolanda Schonbrun
Co-Presidents
