President's Holiday Greeting

Join in the Holiday Spirit by Donating to the Give!Guide About Give!Guide. This year, CanDo’s Give!Guide celebrates its tenth anniversary! The 2022 online campaign is bigger and better than ever, featuring 72 Napa County nonprofits. The guide makes it easy to support good causes by donating as little as $10 and, well, . . . as much as you’d like! This is the third year that the League of Women Voters of Napa County has been selected to participate in the Give!Guide. Your donation expresses your appreciation for how the League helps to Make Democracy Work®. What the League Does. This election year the Napa County League held virtual candidate forums for almost every jurisdiction during both primary and general elections; held an unbiased virtual forum on the seven California propositions; helped to register voters, including high school students; widely disseminated the California League’s Easy Voter Guides in English and Spanish; and gathered election information for the election site Voter’s Edge. The League also worked with other nonprofits on both the census and redistricting projects; regularly published an electronic newsletter and president’s message; and advocated on behalf of various community issues, including climate change, social/criminal justice, and money in politics. All of this Good Work is done by our cadre of volunteers. This Year’s "Herstorical" Campaign. We hope you will have fun with this year’s campaign featuring four trailblazers who broke the (double-paned!) glass ceiling at the turn of the last century. Watch for e-blasts on December Thursdays describing the derring-do of these remarkable women: --Annette Kellermann (1887–1975), who designed and sold the first one-piece swimming suits for women. --Annie Londonderry (1870–1947), the first woman to bicycle around the entire globe. --Effie Hotchkiss, who, with her mother Avis in a sidecar, was the first woman to cross the US on a motorcycle––and back (1915). --Aida de Acosta (1884–1962), who was the first woman in the world to fly a powered aircraft solo. Olivia Brion Wines. The Olivia Brion brand, created by winemaker Kira Ballota, features four distinctive wines that capture the spirit of these iconic women. The four labels will be offered as a one-time prize, which also includes a virtual tasting with the winemaker. Every donor to the League through the Give!Guide, from now until New Year’s Eve, will be entered into the drawing. To donate online, click to go to the Give!Guide website and follow the directions. Bernie Brooks
